PHEBEY Programme

Brief History

We have the idea to increase capacity and broaden our reach, in so doing enhance project impact. We aim to initiate a multi-pillar approach to incorporate and strengthen the already running individual pillar programmes.

We will concentrate on the orphaned, illiterate and disenfranchised children, youth and women of the slums and rural areas of the country. In Nairobi the main area is in Mathare slum and this will be done through the Mathare branch office of the Building Africa which established the Millennium Academy and later will look to set up other projects like this in other areas.

Our Objective

We combined the following pillar programs into one main program to be the foundation on which some projects will run, and the pillars are as follows:-

· Poverty alleviation

· Health

· Education

· Business

· Environment

· Youth

After combining them we came up with the PHEBEY program. A multi-pillar approach which enhances programme impact across pillars. The PHEBEY programme will collaborate will like minded organizations, well-wishers or donors to:-

· Promote

· Create awareness

· To sponsor

· To improve

· To facilitate

PHEBEY program objectives within the designated programme area and beyond.

Mission

PHEBEY plans to roll out Poverty alleviation programme with a multi-pillar approach that will not only provide Education but it will aim to also enlighten the local population within the target area on issues of Environment and how it affects their day to day lives, like their Health and how it can be improved.

We also plan to setup small workshops and training on development, Business etc. In order to empower the idle jobless Youth who are educated but jobless by providing working solutions with practical examples. Making them self-sufficient is the main goal after the training; we also look to help the locals setup small businesses.

Specific Objectives

· Poverty Eradication is the main pillar, and by creating an equal opportunity for the less privileged, unemployed, illiterate, women, children etc, we aim to help them so that they are able to help themselves by utilizing their abilities or talents and in turn making them self-sufficient and reliant. Good basic education, employment opportunities, setting up of community based small businesses are just but a few ways we plan to tackle this.

· To strengthen the already running health care program to provide the basic health care needs and services locally and affordably to the people of the slum(Mathare and so on) and rural areas who cannot afford this basic need. Through this we can encourage them to take up environmental preservation and alternative ways of staying healthy, good dieting and alternative means of transport like cycling and by doing this the environment is kept cleaner.

· To strengthen the education services by building new classrooms, employing new teachers and to introduce computer-based education to the people of the slums and rural areas. The funds generated from the PHEBEY program will go a long way to achieving this goal. All the proceeds will go through the Building Africa Mathare branch to the Millennium Academy.

· We will also enhance the schools feeding program through this.
